Day 19
John C Maxwell says, "Leadership is influence, no more no less." If this is a principle of leadership, then every single Christian is a leader because we influence the world around us for the sake of Christ. Jesus’ use of the term "servant" was synonymous with greatness and Christian leadership. We may think that we are effective leaders, but in fact we are not. Greatness comes by serving and leadership comes by being slave of all. If you aspire to be a person of influence or in other words to be a Christian leader, then you should be asking the question, "How effectively and lovingly am I serving others around me?"

Thank you for that great reminder, Pastor Dave. I am guilty of getting caught up with the size and complexity of the task and missing opportunities He gifts consistently to greatly influence and impact the world (through my circle of influence). Why? Because even when I say "God, use me" there is a certain way in which I expect God's response to manifest itself. Thus, my actions are inconsistent with my prayer; in essence, what I am really saying with my actions is "God, use me, but under these conditions." How ridiculous. I'm so happy that the Spirit revealed this to me through His Word and through your counsel. Truly, it is becoming increasingly clear during these days of prayer and fasting that the first step to living in purpose and power is to acknowledge Jesus in my life and to enjoy and delight in Him. The actual job/career, task, activity, ministry in which we try to practice "glorifying God" is secondary. You had to teach me this more than once, I know. :) I'm starting to understand it. Praise the Lord!
